Wedding photos are meant to last a lifetime, and you don’t want to be disappointed as you look at them year after year. We’ve provided three of our top tips for ensuring you enjoy your wedding photos now and for years to come.
- Hire the right photographer. The first step to receiving great wedding photos is hiring a great photographer. When evaluating photographers, make sure they align with your values and wedding vision, The Knot recommends. The right photographer will also help you feel both confident and comfortable. “Hire a photographer that gets you,” California-based photographer Brandi Rollins tells The Knot. “If they speak your language, you can trust that they’ll deliver photos that will last a lifetime.”
- Practice the “celebrity pose.” Glamour suggests practicing the “celebrity pose” that Hollywood stars use to look their best on the red carpet.
-
- Stand with your hips rotated 45 degrees away from the camera.
- Put your weight on your back foot.
- Elongate your other leg, cross it in front and point your foot toward the camera. Bend the knee a bit so you don’t lock up or look stiff.
- Place a hand on your hip.
- Smile!
- Use “props” to your advantage. Position your wedding bouquet to the side at hip level rather than straight in front of you, Wedding Ideas magazine advises. Also, make sure your bouquet doesn’t hide your dress’ bodice or decorative detailing, and don’t try to hold you bouquet up high as it naturally hunches your shoulders and makes you appear stiff. You also want to showcase your ring! Practice holding your bouquet so that your ring faces out and toward the camera.
